
India-Russia Seal Pact to Boost Industrial, Tech & Mining Ties

- India and Russia signed a Protocol to deepen cooperation in aluminium, fertilisers, railways, and mining technology.
- Discussions included aerospace tech, 3D printing, carbon fibre, and small aircraft engine development.
- Both nations explored joint work in rare earth minerals, coal gasification, and modern industrial infrastructure.
India and Russia have reaffirmed their longstanding strategic partnership by signing a comprehensive Protocol aimed at boosting cooperation across key industrial sectors, including aluminium, fertilisers, railways, and mining technology.
The agreement was formalised during the 11th session of the India-Russia Working Group on Modernisation and Industrial Cooperation, held under the framework of the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation.
Co-chaired by Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), and Alexey Gruzdev, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the session brought together around 80 delegates from both countries, including senior government officials, industry representatives, and domain experts.
The two sides reviewed progress since the previous session and welcomed deepened collaboration in aluminium, fertilisers, and railway transport. Discussions also focused on technology transfer and capacity building in mining equipment, exploration, and industrial and domestic waste management.
Emerging areas of cooperation were also explored, including aerospace science and technology, modernised wind tunnel development, production of small aircraft piston engines, carbon fibre innovation, additive manufacturing, and 3D printing.

In addition, opportunities were discussed in rare earth and critical minerals extraction, underground coal gasification, and the creation of modern industrial infrastructure.
The meeting concluded with the signing of the official Protocol, reinforcing the mutual commitment to strengthen bilateral industrial and technological cooperation. Both sides expressed confidence that the expanded partnership will contribute significantly to economic growth and technological advancement.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry stated that the collaborative efforts aim to position both nations for stronger industrial synergies and future-ready innovation.
