Bajaj Electricals & IIT Bombay Partner for Smart City Lighting

Bajaj Electricals Ltd. has announced a strategic partnership with the TIH Foundation for IoT & IoE at IIT Bombay to co-develop smart lighting systems as part of India’s growing Smart City mission.

Under the Smart Streetlight Control project, both organisations will work together to design AI powered lighting solutions that are energy efficient, reliable, and scalable. Bajaj brings deep expertise in nationwide lighting infrastructure, while TIH contributes cutting-edge research in electronics, communication networks, and AI/ML technologies.

The agreement was formalised at Bajaj’s R&D Centre, AB Square, with senior leaders from both sides, including Rajesh Naik, COO of Bajaj Lighting Solutions, and Kiran Shesh, CEO of TIH Foundation, participating.

In the first phase, the focus will be on developing intelligent lighting systems capable of optimising energy use and improving operational efficiency. The long-term goal is to extend this technology to other urban infrastructure needs, supporting broader smart city development.

The initiative aligns with national goals like Digital India and Make in India, and further strengthens Bajaj’s legacy of innovation in India’s infrastructure sector
