KTM will certainly make a statement with its new flagship, which the 1390 Super Adventure S Evo tops off its adventure motorcycle lineup. Crammed to bursting with leading-edge features and technology to enhance performance, this motorcycle is bound to 'simply obliterate the field' in the segment, Austrian manufacturer KTM said.
At its heart, the KTM 1390 Super Adventure S EVO has a 1350cc engine which is bigger than the 1300cc engine used on the previous version. This massive unit is capable of producing 173 bhp of power and 144 Nm of peak torque. To add perspective, this bike was tested on the track, and even the pictures and videos released by the brand show it leaning on corners. However, the performance remains equally good when there are no roads.
To achieve the increased power figures, the Austrians have used new camshaft technology aimed at improving the ride at low rpm. The engine is paired with an new Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). This unit is exclusive for the KTM 1390 Super Adventure S Evo. The manufacturer claims that the AMT system is one of the most innovative engine developments.
KTM has slightly changed the frame by increasing the stiffness to accommodate the bigger engine and improve its stability while simultaneously making it easier to handle. Furthermore, the Semi-Active Technology (SAT) has been tuned to be even more precise with consistent damping behaviour.
KTM 1390 Super Adventure S EVO is suspended on 48mm WP USD front forks while the rear end has a WP monoshock. Meanwhile, the braking system comprises dual front and a single rear disc with dual-channel ABS. A 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel provide the mounting space for the brakes. These wheels are wrapped in 120/70 front and 160/70 rear tyres, respectively.
A few features on the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S Evo are very promising, including a new-design LED headlamp, not to mention integrated fresh bodywork, as well as an updated seat design. Another great feature is the all-new windshield and storage box that enable use in the most convenient and practical way possible. The motorcycle features a new portrait-mounted V80 TFT touchscreen dashboard, which should be very interactive.
