IPPB to Offer Doorstep Digital Life Certificate Services for EPFO Pensioners
- IPPB to provide free doorstep digital life certificate services to EPFO pensioners
- Authentication via face recognition or fingerprint biometrics
- Service available through 1.65 lakh post offices and 3 lakh postal workers
India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) will now offer doorstep digital life certificate (DLC) services to pensioners under the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), as part of a new MoU signed between the two institutions. The service aims to make life certificate submissions more accessible, especially for elderly and rural retirees.
Using its expansive network of over 1.65 lakh post offices and 3 lakh postal workers, comprised of postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaksl, IPPB will deliver this service at the pensioner’s doorstep. Equipped with digital banking devices, postal staff will help pensioners use face authentication or fingerprint biometrics to verify and submit their life certificates.
This service removes the need for pensioners to travel to a bank or EPFO office for physical submission, offering a convenient and dignified alternative. EPFO will fully cover the cost of issuing digital life certificates, ensuring the service is free for pensioners.
The announcement came during the 73rd Foundation Day of EPFO, where the MoU was exchanged between IPPB’s MD & CEO, R. Viswesvaran, and EPFO’s Central Provident Fund Commissioner, Ramesh Krishnamurthi.

Pensioners can contact their local postman, Gramin Dak Sevaks, or visit a nearby post office to request the service using their Aadhaar number and pension details.
Viswesvaran,MD & CEO of IPPB, said, “This partnership reinforces our mission to bring essential services to every doorstep in India”. He added, “It’s especially beneficial for pensioners in rural areas, who can now complete this mandatory process with ease”.
