Tata Group’s satellite communication arm, Nelco Limited, has signed an agreement with Eutelsat to introduce OneWeb’s Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite connectivity services across India.

Under the partnership, Nelco will collaborate with OneWeb India Communications, Eutelsat’s local operating entity, to deliver secure, high-speed, and low-latency satellite internet for customers on land, at sea, and in the air. The coverage will span India’s landmass, territorial waters, and remote regions, enabling critical applications for government, defense, enterprises, and public sector undertakings.

The initiative aims to boost India’s digital infrastructure, enhance national security, and bridge connectivity gaps in underserved and hard-to-reach areas. Nelco said it is ready to roll out services as soon as OneWeb’s LEO network becomes commercially operational in India.

Nelco, a subsidiary of Tata Power and part of the $116 billion Tata Group, is a key player in India’s satellite communication sector. Founded in 1940, the company has evolved from electronics manufacturing to becoming a leading provider of satellite communication services, best known for its Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) solutions. Its offerings include enterprise WAN solutions, integrated security and surveillance systems, and custom satellite communication projects.
