The workforce of the future will be an amalgamation of intelligent machines and humans working together. Dell Technologies along with Institute for the Future just released a report on the future of work following the previous engagement to forecast the Next Era of Human Machine Partnerships. Together we observed a world that's brimming with opportunity. Emerging technologies have only continued to advance, driving human progress around the world and reshape society for the better.

However, emerging technologies can also challenge organizations grappling with change. Emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence(AI), Extended Reality(XR), IOT, Edge and multimodal interfaces are set to revolutionize work and create new ways to prepare and connect people to more rewarding careers. These technologies will enable novel approaches to decision making and collaboration throughout organizations to create more equitable workplaces for people throughout the world.

Forecasting the future of work
Emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence(AI), Extended Reality(XR), IOT, Edge and multimodal interfaces are set to revolutionize work and create new ways to prepare and connect people to more rewarding careers. These technologies will enable novel approaches to decision-making and collaboration throughout organizations to create more equitable workplaces for people throughout the world.

IFTF is forecasting three shifts that could help shape a more inclusive, empowering and rewarding work environment over the next decade:
1.Inclusive Talent- Human and machine partnerships will create more equitable workplaces byevaluating candidates based on their capabilities, rather than gender, age or class. They'll inform how to create optimal teams in the workplace, and help design incentives to increase productivity, morale and retention.

2.Empowered Workers- employees will collaborate in entirely different, immersive ways using technologies such as XR, empowering
workers more than ever before.Realtime collaboration practices already embedded in gaming, coding and distributed communities will cultivate greater, shared experiences ­ with the ability to look, touch and interact with work together in unison.

3.AI Fluency- ­ AI will compliment and augment human capabilities rather than replace them, and AI fluent workers will use their skills to manage workflows, accomplish tasks and make sense of all the data we collect. A deep understanding of AI and human and machine systems will unlock human potential and set workers apart.

The Digital Divide in the Workplace
In any multigenerational workforce, there will be a digital divide at the workplace. This is the first time that there are four generations working together. Although Gen Z employees are digital natives and tech savvy, there is a learning gap between the Gen X and Gen Y. To bridge that gap, it is imperative that organizations focus on reskilling and upskilling their employees. While the Gen X could help Gen Y with soft skills training, the Gen Y could mentor them with digital skills.

According to the GenZ survey by Dell Technologies, Gen Z is confident about their tech skills but unsure about their readiness for the workforce. Meanwhile, senior professionals worry they'll be outpaced by Gen Z. Interestingly, the study also highlights that by 2020, 20 percent of the multigenerational workforce will comprise Gen Z.

As with any period of great change, there will be complexities to overcome. IFTF outlines three key dilemmas we must navigate over the next decade in order to fully reap the benefits of human-machine partnerships: Digital skills gap as evaluation practices change and new methods of discovering talent emerge, organizations will need to re-skill experienced workers while simultaneously empowering a new generation of workers. According to 4.600 business leaders from 40+ countries in a research conducted by Dell Technologies & Vanson Bourne, 58 percent agree that they'll struggle to provide equal opportunities to multiple generations of workers. Additionally 60% believe all employees will need to become experts in technology by 2030
