In a conversation with Indranil Chakraborty, Editor, SiliconIndia, shares his views on Rising cloud adoption in India. During the conversation he also discussed about the importance of ISVs and about the role that it play.

Cloud adoption is rising in the country. What role does it play for businesses today?
Businesses globally as well as in India have understood the importance of digital transformation and are leveraging technologies such as cloud to address evolving customer demands. This uptick in digital transformation is prevalent across sectors including education, healthcare, BFSI amongst many others. The rising competition is also another contributing factor towards organisations wanting an edge for their businesses. In addition to that, cloud acceptance has also led to heightened innovation within various sectors in the country. This has brought related technologies such as IoT, chatbots, blockchain to better use by business leaders who understand the value of emerging technology. Businesses who are able to leverage cloud and related technologies witnessed an efficient organisation and the late movers are increasingly joining the cloud acceptance route. Businesses are also able to scale and further grow their business basis their objectives in a simplified manner with the right cloud provider and right cloud strategies.

Additionally, every sector including the highly regulated public sector too is accepting cloud to ensure efficiency. Also, with the business environment, there is also a heighted importance towards business continuity which is significantly enabled by cloud in the most efficient manner along with ensuring collaboration. What roles are ISVs playing to further inculcate technology into India and take it ahead in its digitalization?
As technology acceptance rises, businesses are seeking to simplify this process with as many initiatives. Amongst this, ISVs with their simplified offerings are an important avenue for businesses to explore and ensure innovation. With this, ISVs have become key enablers of India’s digitization. ISV’s SaaS offerings allows businesses to focus on their core organisational agenda and ensure their objectives are met. Especially in India, SaaS has become a way to explore many avenues for businesses and with the country’s innovative SaaS ISVs, it will continue to add value to the country’s IT sector. Given their continued demand, ISVs are able to leverage cloud to deliver meaningful results to end customer and are also able to ensure growth for themselves with better customer satisfaction.

How importance is cloud for ISVs? And what role does Oracle play here?
As more and more Indian ISVs develop the understanding of SaaS based offerings, they are able to modernize their applications by leveraging cloud. Beyond innovation, ISVs are also able gain reduced time to market which has assisted their overall growth as well. Many businesses rely on ISVs and therefore they need speed, scalability and efficiency in their applications which their customers would demand. To support this, cloud has proven to be a catalyst for ISVs in India. Additionally, security is an imperative when it comes to ISVs and every other organization and therefore they need to rely on the right type of cloud provider.

They leverage OCI for TReaX, their treasury management solution to assist businesses globally.. Another example if of Soham ERP, which is in the pharma tech space and offers cloud based ERP application suite via Oracle., Tanium also leverages OCI for its global automatic cyberattack response system. And Thomson Reuters is making its indirect tax software available to global customers with OCI. Additionally, Wipro is another key example, and their domain and consulting division offers products that support air cargo and airline customers including its CROAMIS and TOPS. With the move to OCI, Wipro modernized CROAMIS and TOPS product delivery with a customer-focused approach. Both of these handle sensitive information therefore OCI’s security was critical to uphold customer satisfaction. They were also able to improve agility with OCI.

There are many niche ISVs in India. What role do they play?
As the importance of ISVs grows in the country, niche and sector specific ISVs will be able to bring about significant solutions. These ISVs will be able to revolutionize the entire IT landscape with their sector specific offerings.
