Chief Technology Officer
India’s vast and complex geography, along with its diverse industrial sector presents unique challenges for logistics. Turvo addresses this by offering a combined supply chain platform that enhances collaboration, visibility, integration, and execution. Built to eliminate manual inefficiencies, Turvo connects fragmented systems into a single, collaborative network, enabling faster decision-making, streamlined operations, and improved profitability.
In a recent interaction with siliconindia magazine, Vilas Madapurmath, Chief Technology Officer at Turvo, shared his insights on how Turvo is disrupting supply chain management and logistics technology solutions.
Could you give us a brief overview of Turvo, what inspired its founding, and what range of solutions you offer for modern supply chains?
Turvo was established to solve a big problem for supply chains around the world. The logistics environment is beset by disconnected systems, manual processes, and insufficient real-time visibility. Having suffered through these inefficiencies themselves, our founders wanted to create a single, cloud-born platform that brings together shippers, carriers, brokers, and 3PLs into one integrated and collaborative network. Turvo’s platform is cloud-native, designed from the ground up for collaboration.
Rather than depending on isolated tools, it unites all stakeholders in one system that facilitates real-time communication, end-to-end visibility and automated workflows. This eliminates friction, increases transparency, and empowers logistics teams of any size to perform faster and smarter, with solutions that meet the varied needs of supply chains today.
In such a competitive logistics tech landscape, what makes Turvo truly stand out when it comes to innovation, collaboration, and real-time visibility?
What distinguishes Turvo is that we are not merely another Transpor-tation Management System (TMS), we take it much further. Fundamentally, we are a collaboration layer to bring together the whole supply chain, which is our largest differentiator. Unlike most TMS software, Turvo facilitates real-time, social-type messaging between shippers, carriers, brokers, and suppliers in one shared timeline per load or document. This centralizes context and visibility in one place and is incredibly powerful.
We’re also an open platform with a modern UI, robust APIs, and automation capabilities that integrate easily with other systems. Customers love how intuitive and user-friendly the product is, and how it transforms their workflows enabling teams to work smarter, faster, and more collaboratively. That’s how we’re redefining logistics in a crowded market.
What were some of the key challenges you faced while developing or scaling the Turvo
platform, and how did you overcome them?
This is a favorite topic of mine, as I’m heavily invested in both the product and technology aspects at Turvo. One of our greatest challenges was scaling, particularly with the fact that we support large enterprises that require high reliability, simplicity, and performance all at the same time. In logistics, time is of the essence, and supporting fragmented systems means users anticipate real-time feedback and system stability. Achieving balance between performance and ease of use was no small challenge.
To do this, we invested in a highly scalable, cloud native, multi-tenant architecture. It enables us to handle a global base of customers and over tens of thousands of shipments per day without performance compromise. It has been a never-ending process of fine-tuning the platform to maintain scalability while remaining committed to our collaborative and user friendly philosophy and I’m happy to say the platform now surpasses enterprise expectations.
How does Turvo unify operations across WMS, TMS, ERP, and market places in a seamless way?
System integration is central to Turvo’s value. In enterprise supply chains, you’re often dealing with fragmented systems TMS, WMS, ERPs, and freight marketplaces. Turvo serves as the connective layer across everything through a robust, open API architecture and support for formats such as flat files. We’ve also developed a broad library of prebuilt connectors for quick deployment. This integration dismantles silos, allowing real-time data flow and visibility across the operation. The outcome is a smooth, end-to-end process from order to cash that reduces manual activity and facilitates quicker, better-informed decisions. Turvo does not simply link systems, it brings them together as a single collaborative experience.
How does your platform support small to mid-sized logistics companies in scaling their operations?
Turvo is designed to scale with companies of any size. For small and mid-size logistics companies, typical challenges include resource constraints, manual workflows, and lack of visibility all of which can hinder growth. Our platform addresses these issues from day-one with automation, rapid onboarding, and a centralized, simple-to-configure system. As these companies expand either by processing more shipments, adding services, or accessing new markets Turvo enables them to do so without increased complexity or IT expense. Whether startup or multinational corporation, we’re designed to facilitate your growth journey.
How do you ensure your team keeps up with the rapidly evolving supply chain technology landscape?
With the fast pace of supply chain technology development particularly post-pandemic, continuous learning and adaptability become essential. In Turvo, our engineering and product teams remain in close collaboration with customers and industry thought leaders so we can address existing and upcoming issues. We balance agility and stability so that we can rapidly innovate without sacrificing quality. Internally, we make investments in frequent training, exposure to the latest technologies, and foster an innovation culture. This helps us stay future-proof and keep delivering value with technology.
How are predictive planning and live tracking enhancing customer satisfaction and reducing operational costs?
Live tracking and predictive planning are at the core of Turvo’s effect. Real-time visibility over each shipment streamlines communi -cation and automates work. Predictive capabilities indicate potential delays and exceptions early on, so that proactive measures can be taken. This alleviates missed appointments, eliminates idle time, and optimizes asset utilization leading to smoother operations and cost reductions. Most importantly, it generates customer trust by providing transparency and reliability at every stage.
What company measures are in place to ensure data security, especially during cross-company collaboration?
Security is central to our platform, particularly with a cloud-native, multi-tenant model where several companies cooperate. We have strict data privacy with granular permissions at the user level, so users see only data that pertains to them. Turvo adheres to industry best practices of encryption, secure authentication, and regular audits. We’re SOC 2 compliant and perform regular vulnerability assessments to ensure high levels of security. Keeping our customers’ sensitive data secure is extremely important to us. Additionally, ‘Operate with Integrity’ is one of our company values.
Tell us about your growth journey and notable industry awards & recognitions. Also, how does your future roadmap look like in terms of further expansion
Our growth journey thus far has been promising. We’ve won a number of industry awards, such as Best in Show at large supplychain conferences. These awards affirm both our software and the innovation that we’re bringing to the market. In the future, we’re heavily investing in AI-based automation, predictive analytics, and machine learning particularly in areas such as exception handling and load optimization. With a new SVP of Product on board, we’re pushing this vision faster. As our clients grow, Turvo will keep developing into a smart, data-centric platform designed for the future of international logistics.
