Gone are the days when reefer trucks were used only for transporting ice cream. Today reefer trucks are also used in food industry to address the higher demand for rich diets due to rising affluence in urban areas. But still, only less than four percent products are transported in India by a cold chain, compared to 90 percent in the UK because reefer providers fail to leverage the cutting-edge technology or provide delivery on-time. According to Food & Agriculture Organisation(FAO),40 percent of food produced in the developing countries is wasted before it reaches the consumer.

The need of the hour is to have more sophisticated food supply chains that ensure fresh food is delivered to the consumers. Catering to this demand perfectly is Fulcrum Shipping & Logistics, which is backed by a proficient experienced team and vehicles equipped with GPS & reefer temperature monitoring device sensors, thereby not only ensuring on-time delivery but also enabling
its customers to track & monitor their shipment and temperature through a bleeding-edge software.

Maintaining the Required Temperature
With a fleet strength of 22 refrigerated vehicles (adding six more this year) and an inventory of 52x40 ft.& 7x20 ft. reefer containers (expanding to 25 units this year) that are equipped with temperature control monitoring sensors, Fulcrum has successfully transported all sorts of perishable goods like pharma, fruits, vegetables, meat, chemicals, poultry, fish and more. Moreover, to cool the cargo stored in the reefer container the flooring is specially designed in T-Shape, which allows cool air to flow up through the floor, circulate around the container and hence better temperature control. The container yard is equipped with plug points to maintain its reefer temperatures, and over 3000 TEUs per month are handled in this yard.

Besides conducting training programs for every new employee through the company’s senior professionals, Fulcrum also sends its people to Ashok Leyland training centers annually to learn about new developments in their commercial vehicles.
