Founded in 2018, through its Intelligent Energy Storage Management System that combines the power of embedded intelligence in the battery with cloud applications, Taqanal Energy is powering the shift from fossil fuels and internal combustion engines. Mohan Satyaranjan, CEO, Taqanal Energy says, "We are a software company and our strategy is to use software rather than hardware to solve problems. Via hardware, conventional products attempt to solve problems that often become monolithic and not versatile. The approach to defining software is versatile and scalable."
Battery Management System
Every battery needs a BMS (Battery Management System), whether it is a UPS and EV, almost 50 percent of the cost is charged for the batteries. And when you look at the challenges faced by this industry is unaffordable pricing, so at Taqanal Energy what they do is reduce the battery cost. Then
comes a major question, where is the innovation? The innovation lies in the software provided with the BMS. The concept of changing the batteries just like a gasoline service, for instance, people do not buy the cylinder, and instead, they buy the service. In the same way, you just need to buy the software, a sharable source.

Vish Narayanan, Co-Founder, Taqanal Energy adds, "We are unique because of the software-based battery, as a sharable source and also, which reduces the cost of the BMS. When hardware is designed it is very difficult to modify it because you are locked into a specific architecture. But if using a software, there are a lot of things that can be reprogrammable, that is where we are rethinking of doing the traditional pattern of Battery Management System. Our `software firs' approach to solving EV adoption, software-defined BMS and `CAN to Cloud' modem are one of a kind solution."
Taqanal can co-develop their solutions with the OEM; the software-driven architecture allows them to be nimble and flexible yet meet the diverse requirements of the customer base. Also, the company have collaborated with central laboratories such as the Central Electrochemical Research Institute in Chennai where they exchange the latest developments in Battery Chemistry. To ensure the quality of the BMS, the company tests each and every cell that will be used in the pack, line by line every cell will be checked rigorously, and also, software examination will be given top priority. The company deploy several international standard tests for hardware as well as software quality testing.
