India reported 2,08,456 cybercrime incidents in 2018; 3,94,499 incidents in 2019, 11,58,208 cases in 2020 and a senior Google executive recently estimated that India saw 18 Million cyber attacks and 2 Lakh online threats daily in the first quarter of 2022. Cyber attacks on country’s government agencies have also doubled in past two years. India, the US, Indonesia, and China accounted for nearly 40 percent of the total cyber attacks on government agencies in 2022.
